In 2012, owners Mark and Katie swapped their hectic London life and high-end London hospitality jobs in search of that elusive work-life balance that so many are searching for. They moved their young family and Katie's parents to the Devon countryside and bought a run-down farmhouse with a few acres of land and a crumbling old barn. They were in search of a project!
They set about converting an old milking shed on the property into a luxury holiday cottage, doing much of the work themselves whilst working several jobs to pay for the build. Their high level of customer service, coupled with a unique private chef service has seen them win several awards, including Gold at the Devon Tourism Awards, Bronze at the South West Tourism Awards and Silver in the Visit England Awards.
Once The Milkshed was up and running, Mark and Katie launched Milkshed Catering - a bespoke catering company, specialising in weddings across Devon and the South West. They now cater for around 100 weddings per year - each one being completely unique!
